About the Achievo Project

The Achievo Project is an Open Source project in which a web-based project management and tracking tool is developed for small- to medium-sized companies.
Achievo is aiming to become a fully featured ERP-like system in the future. Features include a time registration module with several statistical tools. Achievo is multi-language, fully customizable, and uses a modular system to allow future extensions.

Once upon a time in a small town somewhere in Europe, the people at Ibuildings found themselves in desperate need of a highly specialized project management tool to keep track of the hours spent on projects.
So they began a grand quest for the ultimate solution, a product that does the job but also allows for extreme flexibility and adaptibility to fit our specific needs. They searched and searched the huge software world for such a tool. But to no avail. After a long and exhaustive quest they slowly came to the conclusion that they must either find this product soon, or start to make one themselves!

And thus the Achievo project was born. A bold and glorious project was born with the determination to give to the free people of this world the finest most flexible project management tool that they could build. They quickly realised that what can be imagined, can be achieved. But also that one must dare to dream, but that there is no substitute for perseverance and hard work, and teamwork. So, united in their determination they worked hard and did not stop until their ultimate goals were met.

And then (not so long ago) it happened. Achievo -the product- is here, ready to be used. Free for everyone.
We can now only commemorate the greatness of this event and the individuals who achieved it. Below you will find the names of these brave souls that sacrificed part of their lives to build for you Achievo. Look at these names, remember them, admire them! For these extraordinary talented warriors of this modern software age have made it possible.

Free Software Philosophy

Achievo is free software (also called Open Source software). This relates not to the price of Achievo, but to your rights as a user or developer to run, copy, distribute, study, change and improve Achievo in freedom.
Free Software is about empowering users, and about granting them rights over the software they use. With Free Software, the user gets a number of rights:

  • The right to use the software.
  • The right to redistribute the software: if you have a piece of free software, you can share this software with other people (no license fees are required).
  • The right to learn from the software.
  • The right to alter the software (all source code, data files, images are included). For example, users can improve it, extend it, trim it down, fix problems, learn or experiment.
  • The right to redistribute your modified versions of the software. This means that once you have made changes to the software, you can distribute these changes to your friends, customers or anyone else.

The side effects of Free Software are that the software tends to be of very high quality, it evolves very rapidly, problems are fixed quickly, and in general the system is better both for the user and the developer.
